About the Journal

FOCUS AND SCOPE

The Journal Innovation, Science and Technology INCITEC contributes to knowledge of science, technology and innovation dissemination for national and international researchers. The contents are aimed at teachers, researchers, students and professionals engaged in technological and technical production. The Journal supports dialogue and knowledge transfer between scientific communities of Ecuador and Latin America through original research dissemination and experimental development with the Open Access policy.

INCITEC does not charge any fee for review or publication of scientific articles.

INCITEC publishes articles in Spanish or English, with a defined scope in the following lines of research:

Article Categories

Each issue of INCITEC is organized in 3 categories:

Original Article, in this category innovative developments that contribute to expansion of knowledge are presented.
Academic Work, which includes results of undergraduate degree projects, graduate or doctoral theses.
Practical Application, includes works that have been developed as implementation of innovative solutions to real problems, statistical studies, case studies, among others.

 

PROCESS FOR SUBMITTING ARTICLES TO INCITEC

To submit the article, the author must register in the INCITEC web page, by clicking here. The author must ensure that his/her scientific article complies with the parameters described in the INCITEC Guide for Authors, which can be downloaded in .doc format by clicking here. 

In addition, authors must attach the following information at the time of submitting the article:

  • Originality letter, with the format available by clicking here.
  • Declaration of responsibility and authorship, with the format available by clicking here.
  • Declaration of no conflict of interest, with the form available by clicking here.
  • Blinded article (i.e. no author names)

 

ARTICLE REVIEW PROCESS

Thereafter, the article is reviewed for plagiarism in the URKUND system, the percentage of plagiarism accepted by the Journal (10%). If the article overcomes the first filter and if it does not exceed 10% of plagiarism, it will be blinded by the Editor. Following this, the editorial team sends the blinded article to academic peers, that does not belong to the Instituto Superior Tecnológico Luis Rogerio González. INCITEC adheres to the double-blind process.

When the peers issue their evaluations, in case there are suggestions, corrections or modifications, it will be sent to the author so that he/she can proceed to make the pertinent changes, in a term no longer than fifteen (15) calendar days.  The review process lasts approximately 3 months. The author will receive communications, via email, about the stages in which the article is in.

INCITEC does not charge any fee for the review of scientific articles.

 

OPEN ACCESS POLICY

INCITEC adheres to Open Access model in which contents of scientific publications are freely available in full text on the Internet, with no temporary embargoes.

Acceptance of the manuscript by the journal implies no simultaneous submission to other journals or editorial bodies and the non-exclusive transfer of the authors' economic rights in favor of the publisher, who allows reuse, after publication (postprint), under a Creative Commons Reconocimiento-NoComercial-CompartirIgual 4.0 Internacional license. You can share, copy, distribute, alter, transform, generate a derivative work, perform and publicly communicate the work, provided that: a) the authorship and the original source of publication (journal, publisher and URL of the work) are cited; b) they are not used for commercial purposes; c) the same terms of the license are maintained.

The assignment of non-exclusive rights also implies the authors' authorization for the work to be deposited in INCITEC's institutional repository and disseminated through the databases that the publisher considers appropriate for indexing, with a view to increasing the visibility of the publication and its authors.

 

ETHICS CODE

Original and unpublished research will be accepted.  INCITEC uses Urkund software to detect possible plagiarism in manuscripts received, so that all articles will be reviewed with this method, accepting up to a maximum of 10% of similarities. The Jorunal´s Editorial Board will be inflexible with bad practices, such as plagiarism, bad research practices, repetition of articles already published without variations, research fraud, and others. INCITEC is based on the ethical code of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), addressed to editors, reviewers and authors.

Authors are fully responsible for the ideas expressed in their articles, as well as for their ethical suitability. INCITEC seeks to guarantee the academic and research suitability, respecting the creation and work performed by the authors, through its evaluation processes, which seek to protect the plurality and relativity of thought and responsibilities for each of the actors in the process.            

 

PUBLICATION POLICIES

INCITEC will have a biannual periodicity for Volume publications, for which the Director of the journal will be responsible for the publication process.

At least 70% of the published works must come from authors with no participation in the Institutions that make up INCITEC.

 


DIGITAL PRESERVATION POLICIES (SELF-ARCHIVING)

INCITEC uses LOCKSS and CLOCKSS, in addition to its own preservation policies in the repositories and servers of the Instituto SuperiorTecnológico del Austro.
